Before you hire in Texas
- Texas licensing covers larger jobs. The state licensing agency (TDLR) says that in most instances, visible mold of less than 25 contiguous square feet can be cleaned up by people who are not licensed.
- Plan on two separate firms for a licensed job. Texas does not allow the same licensee to do both the mold assessment and the mold remediation on the same project.
- Check the license number yourself on the TDLR license search before anyone starts work.
- A licensed assessor or remediator has to give you the Consumer Mold Information Sheet before any mold-related work begins.
